Environment: Making it better wherever you are

Need Compost? Want to do something good for the ecosystem? Go to your local zoo and get some Zoo Doo! Serious gardeners swear there’s nothing better. Zoo Doo makes your plants healthier by improving aeration, root penetration, water retention and by reducing crusting of the soil surface.
Here are two zoos where it's available:
Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle
This zoo doo is so popular that you have to win a chance by a twice annual lottery to get a truck load. If you have a small garden, it’s available in two-gallon or one pint containers at the Zoo Store year round. The zoo generates about $15,000 a year from sales. Before the Zoo Doo program, they hauled the poo to the landfill and paid $60,000/yr in fees.
Oregon Zoo, Portland
The Oregon Zoo has been offering zoo doo to the public for 26 years and it’s free! They’re just glad to have it hauled away.
Having a problem with deer dining on your yard?
The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Wyoming sells big cat feces as deer repellant. I’ve heard that it works great. Apparently the deer think that you’ve got lions and tigers living in your yard. Please note, this type of Zoo Doo is a deer deterrent, not a fertilizer.
The effects of this Zoo Doo vary. Some gardeners may only need to purchase Zoo Doo once a year, while others may need to purchase more after a few weeks.
