A Quiet Reading Room
As soon as you step inside a library, peace pervades. Libraries guarantee a quiet spot where you can read a great book, browse a magazine, or simply lose yourself in thought.
“I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.”
Jorge Luis Borges
Jorge Luis Borges (1889-1986) was an Argentine poet, writer, and essayist. Here’s an interview with Borges in the Paris Review. This interview is typical of the Paris Review’s longstanding record of documenting great conversations with famous writers. Since 1956, the Paris Review has written up hundreds of such treasures. You can learn a lot about the art of writing by studying the archive which is available on-line or if you prefer reading words on paper pages, as I do, so you can make notes in the margins for future reference, all of the Paris Review interviews are available in a series of books that you can find at your favorite used bookstore.
